Victoria Park was laid out in the 19th century for the residents of the densely built East End and is still called the ‘People’s Park’. There’s a replica Chinese pagoda on an island, a Victorian-style drinking fountain and boating lakes. The lakeside café is popular at weekends. In summer major concerts are held here, and parts of the park are then closed off.
