Science Museum

Museum of technology from the steam engine to the Apollo capsule, with plenty of hands-on exhibits.

150 minfree

On the ground floor stand steam engines from the Industrial Revolution, while higher up come aircraft, rockets and the Apollo 10 command module. Many hands-on exhibits invite you to try things out, which makes the museum particularly appealing for families. Wonderlab, with experiments and shows, is aimed mainly at children. It’s busiest in the early afternoon and quieter in the morning or late afternoon.

Background

The Science Museum is a major museum on Exhibition Road in South Kensington, London. It was founded in 1857 and is one of the city's major tourist attractions, attracting 2,817,852 visitors in 2025. Temporary exhibitions may incur an admission fee. It is one of the five museums in the Science Museum Group. The group changed its name from the National Museum of Science and Industry to Science Museum Group in 2012.
